A number of milestones have shaped the Master Plan process and provided a framework to incorporate technical findings and public input. Each of these milestones has included a process to solicit public input and seek direction and approval. As of fall 2008, the SFPUC has completed identification, evaluation, and recommendation of key improvements and summarized these findings in a draft Master Plan document. The draft plan is now undergoing an estimated two-year environmental review process. Once environmental review is complete and approved, the SFPUC will move forward to finalize the Master Plan and begin implementation of the projects contained within the plan.
The SFPUC is also moving forward with more detailed design and siting studies for a proposed new digester facility to serve the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant. As part of this process, the SFPUC is forming a community task force. For more information, contact Samuel Murray at (415) 554-3275.
